Are you interested in what a PRP facial can do for acne, and basically every other skin concern? My sister wrote this post detailing her personal struggles with acne and how she achieved clear skin with PRP facials.
As a teenager, when most people were suffering from acne and skin troubles, I felt very fortunate that my skin was always very clear. I’d get an occasional pimple here and there, but that was it. Until I hit my 20s. They say that’s when all of your teenage problems, like acne, are supposed to go away. Not for me. That’s when it all started, and honestly it was so embarrassing to have acne now that I was in my 20’s, getting ready to graduate college and be a full time professional. I started wearing a lot of face makeup to cover it up (which I never really wore before) but you could always see bumps underneath and I hated it.
During these years, and pretty much all throughout my teenage years, I always suffered from irregular cycles, sometimes going 2 or 3 months without getting my period. I went to my gynecologist to get everything checked out and I was fine, so I left it alone and just suffered through my acne. I would take such good care of my skin in every aspect: using high quality skin care, washing my face twice a day and doing a whole regimen, eating well, cutting out dairy for the most part and limiting my sugar consumption, but nothing was working. About a year ago, I finally went and got a blood test and hormone panel done. I didn’t really understand the results, but a good friend of ours and Naturopathic Doctor, interpreted my results and gave me a plan of foods to eat and supplements to help aid what I am lacking or have too much of.
It took a few months to see results but I noticed a huge difference when I took the supplements regularly. My cycle became so regular, it was amazing! I was also doing my normal skin care routine. My acne got a lot better and more manageable, but my skin still wasn’t to where I wanted it. Then, Nikka got certified to perform PRP facials. I had heard so much about this “vampire facial” but honestly didn’t think it would help me out. I just assumed it helped more for anti aging. But since my sister was now certified to do the facial, I thought I’d give it a try.
The worst part of the facial to me was getting my blood drawn. Keep in mind, it is a very small amount that is taken, I’m just a baby when it comes to getting my blood drawn. She numbed my face with numbing cream and honestly I didn’t feel a thing! I was so surprised because I was expecting a lot of pain since needles are basically being drug all across your face. After the treatment, I was very very red, but not in any pain. I just washed my face at night with a gentle cleanser and put on hyaluronic acid and moisturizer.
So the next day, my skin was bright red. I chose to not wear makeup to cover it so I could get the best results but if you have to go to work or just don’t feel comfortable, put something natural on. Two to three days after, redness was much better, but my skin felt very dry. About a week later is when the texture of my skin was normal again, plus I was noticing my face was much more smooth.
Fast forward a month, and my skin has NEVER been this clear. The texture of my skin was so smooth; I no longer had these little small bumps and was having minimal breakouts. No other facial or laser for my skin has ever given me results like this. For the first time since I was 18, I went out of the house without face makeup on. I mean nothing. Not even concealer, and I’ve kept up this habit and it feels so great that now I can wear makeup when I want but not because I have to. What I used to think of as an anti aging facial completely transformed my skin and gave me the confidence to go makeup free, something I never thought was possible.
